Sejal Hathi is a primary care doctor at Massachusetts General Hospital and clinical fellow on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, who has dedicated her career to serving vulnerable communities in the United States and globally — with special attention to women and girls. Over the last decade, Sejal has founded and led two social enterprises advancing women’s rights and agency — over time, across 6 continents and 100 countries. In part due to this work, Sejal was one of 9 public health leaders appointed to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's independent advisory group on women’s & children’s health, charged with evaluating and reporting global progress on Millennium Development Goals 4 & 5. More recently, she served as a health policy advisor to Pete Buttigieg’s presidential campaign. She currently sits on the boards of the progressive political organization, Arena, and the Indian-American advocacy organization, Indiaspora.
Sejal received her M.D. and M.B.A. from Stanford University, where she studied as a Paul & Daisy Soros Fellow and a Harry S. Truman Scholar; and her B.S. with honors from Yale University, where she was also a Global Health Fellow. She has spoken at the United Nations, the World Health Assembly, TED and TEDx, among other settings; and been named to the Forbes 30 under 30, Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Awards, Newsweek's "150 Women Who Shake the World," World Economic Forum Global Shapers, and United States Presidential Scholars for her work.
Sheel is the Founder & CEO of Amplo, a global venture capital firm helping build companies that matter. Amplo portfolio companies include Robinhood, Two Chairs, BharatPe, and Mark43. He is a member of the Board of Directors for Andela, most recently named the #1 most innovative company in Africa by Fast Company.
Sheel graduated from Stanford University in three years, at the age of 19. He is a World Economic Forum Global Shaper, and was on the Forbes 30 under 30 list in 2013. He holds a JD from Harvard Law School and is a Member of the State Bar of Texas. He is a member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Houston Partnership and the JFK Presidential Library. In 2016, upon invitation of the White House, Sheel was part of the US delegation with President Obama on his historic visit to Cuba.
JP is the Founder of Schnapper-Casteras PLLC, a boutique law firm focusing on public interest law, technology, and the Supreme Court. Clients include: a national civil rights group with over three million members; one of the nation’s largest 100 private foundations; and a variety of technology startups. Previously, he served as Special Counsel for Appellate and Supreme Court Advocacy at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, one of the nation’s premier public interest law firms, and worked in the appellate practice of Sidley Austin LLP.
JP has published on a broad range of legal and policy topics in outlets such as The Washington Post, Politico, SCOTUS Blog, and Harvard Law Review online. Board service includes: Stanford University (as a graduate student); the Lantos Foundation for Human Rights and Justice (Trustee); and the American University of Iraq (Trustee Emeritus). JP clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. He holds a JD from Stanford Law School, MPP from Harvard Kennedy School, and an MA and BA with Honors from Stanford University.
